Little 'Diplomats' tour Embassy
Nineteen students from the Gordon Greenidge Primary School, St. Peter got an up close look at the work of a diplomatic mission when they toured the Embassy of the United States of America to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean on Wednesday June 24, 2009.
The students met with Chargé d’Affaires D. Brent Hardt who gave them an overview of the operations of Embassy Bridgetown. He also had words of encouragement for the students all of whom will be entering Junior High School in September.
CDA Hardt told them that in order to succeed they needed to be able to read and write well. He also urged them to make the most of the educational opportunities available to them in Barbados and encouraged them to think about studying in the U.S. when they are older.
The 11-year-old students also toured the officers of the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Consular Section, the Military Liaison Office and the Public Affairs Section.
The students were also treated to a tour of the Embassy’s art collection which features works from noted American and Eastern Caribbean artists.
