U.S. Volunteers training visually impaired Barbadians in use of new computer technology

Bridgetown, Barbados, Wednesday, March 5, 2009 – Ten Barbadians with no vision or low vision are now better equipped to be more independent. 

Over the past week Adaptive Technology Specialist Donna Rogalski, a volunteer with Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and the Americas (FAVACA) has been conducting special classes at the National Disabilities Unit based at the National Union of Public Workers, (NUPW) Dalkeith, St. Michael. 

The participants were exposed to new computer software such as JAWS, MAGIC, Open books and SARA. 

On Monday May 19th, 2009 at 1 p.m. there will be a certificate ceremony for the participants at the NUPW headquarters.
