USAID and Ministry of Justice partner to present seminar on juvenile justice
Bridgetown, Barbados, Friday, March 13, 2009 – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its office in Barbados and the office of the US Military Southern Command will partner with the Ministry of Home Affairs and National Security in presenting a one-day seminar on “Shared Experiences” from the juvenile justice program in Florida.
The event which is funded through the Florida National Guard’s State Partnership Program (SPP) will be held on Tuesday March 17, 2009 at the Bay Gardens Resort starting at 8:15 a.m. Minister of Home Affairs the Hon. Guy Mayers will deliver welcome remarks. Country Director of USAID Mr. James Googin will also deliver remarks.
The seminar features presentations from the Florida Youth Challenge Academy; the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office; the Jacksonville Police Athletic League and the State Attorney’s Office in Jacksonville –Florida.
In addition, the combined USAID-Florida SPP-Southern Command team will make donations on behalf of the U.S. Southern Military Command through its Humanitarian Assistance Program to several youth-focused organizations. Items will include teaching, training, and sports equipment.
