U.S. Embassy Sends Local Student to Inauguration 2009
Bridgetown, Barbados, Monday, June 08, 2009 – Another young Barbadian will witness the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama.
Sherry Ann Drakes of Hopewell, St. Thomas left Barbados last week for Washington.
Her trip was made possible by the Embassy of the United States of America to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean which funded her travel and conference costs to attend the University Presidential Inaugural Conference (UPIC) 2009.
As an Inaugural Scholar, she will share in five days of special events and activities commemorating the Inauguration of the President and Vice President of the United States. She will be a special guest on the National Mall the morning of January 20, 2009. Drakes is a student at Barbados Community College Hospitality Section.
