U.S. Embassy Funds Substance Abuse Counselling Course in St. Lucia

July 11, 2009 - Political/Economic Officer, D.R. Seckinger, met with trainer and participants in a substance abuse/addiction counseling course which was cosponsored with the St. Lucia Ministry of Education and Culture and Lynchburg College, United States.

The course sought to encourage formation of school-based substance abuse services.  Another goal was to provide an extensive insight into addictive behavior among youth and adults, substances which are commonly abused, as well as intervention methods and treatment.  Included were the factors that led to success and failure, such as social and psychological ones.
