Children in the U.S. Justice System’ IV
Laurel Victor, a Counselor in the Ministry of Social Development in Grenada, will be participating in the International Visitor Leadership Program ‘Children in the U.S. Justice System’ from April 02 – 20, 2012. Ms. Laurel will commence her program in Washington, join 24 other participants from all over the world and travel to Huntsville, Alabama; Chicago, Illinois and Reno, Nevada.
The goals of this project are to explore the U.S. judicial system with special emphasis on the legal structures in place to protect children; To examine the juvenile justice system in the U.S. and best practices in treatment and rehabilitation tailored to the needs of juvenile offenders and their families; To examine international cooperation to combat trafficking in children and child exploitation, to resolve cross-border child custody disputes, and to implement The Hague Convention on International Child Abduction.
