    Over US$150,000 in Christmas Cheer Delivered through the Denton Program

    The United States Embassy worked with the U.S. Air Force and USAID to bring Christmas cheer to St. Lucians and Dominicans by facilitating the delivery of over US$150,000 in humanitarian on December 14th and 15th.

    On December 6-7, 26 students and 13 teachers from across the Caribbean came together in Barbados to learn how they can “do the right thing” by working through their criminal justice system to report crimes and testify as witnesses.

    U.S. Embassy Marines and BDF Athletes Tackle a Combat Fitness Test

    The U.S. Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean and its U.S. Marine Security Guard Force facilitated a modified Combat Fitness Test at the Club House, on Dover Field, Christ Church for the Barbados Defense Force Youth Athletes on Thursday, August 16th.

    Medical students and doctors from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Barbados benefited from a distance seminar on pediatric hernias on Monday August 13 at the U.S. Embassy, Bridgetown.

    Whether you’re an athlete or a spectator, sports and athletics are an important part of college life in the United States. Not just Americans, but people all across the globe follow every shot of the Final Four basketball championships, and eagerly anticipate the arrival of football season and its series of showdowns, or “bowls” like the Cotton Bowl, Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl. 

  • United States Embassy Hosts Independence Day Celebrations

    United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Larry L. Palmer, hosted a reception on the grounds of the Embassy in Wildey to mark the 236th Anniversary of Independence of the United States of America. Among the guests attending the celebrations were Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave and Lady Belgrave, who took "A Road Trip Across America".

    Book Presentation to Blackman-Gollop Primary School

    The U.S Embassy took the opportunity on Monday June 25 to reach out to the Blackman-Gollop Primary School in rural St. David’s Barbados, and to present the 200 pupils with 51 American classic and modern children’s books. This event reflects the Embassy's strong support for education in Barbados and throughout the Eastern Caribbean and supports the development of the country's human resources. 

  • American Chamber of Commerce Coming to the Eastern Caribbean

    Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean will soon join the worldwide family of countries with American Chambers of Commerce (AmCham). This announcement was made recently at a business reception where new U.S. Ambassador to Barbados Larry L. Palmer met with members of the American business community in Barbados.

    The United States Embassy continued its commitment to education in Barbados when it presented a set of books to the Barbados Association of Reading to be used for special education teaching.

    Denton Shipment for St Kitts

    A humanitarian shipment under the Denton Program was delivered to St. Kitts. The 2500-pound shipment worth US$6642 was organized by U.S.-based Community Bikes Inc. and Kittitian national Dr. Cedric Francis and facilitated by the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Embassy personnel.

    Fulbright American Specialist, Professor Vicky Spencer, visits Barbados

    During her visit Professor Vicky Spencer, visited over a dozen schools that have special needs units or provide special education, to meet with teachers and help them with teaching strategies.

    Regional Port Security Course

    Twenty-one police, customs, and port security officers from across the region were taught about anti-terrorism, anti-piracy and anti-smuggling measures during the two week training course.
