 Ambassador Mary Ourisman

Ambassador Mary Ourisman arrived in Bridgetown, Barbados on October 31, 2006 to assume her duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean - Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

An active community leader and strong supporter of the arts, Mary Ourisman was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Kennedy Center by President Bush and was a founding member of the Center’s International Committee. She also served on the Board of Trustees of the Washington National Opera under the Direction of Placido Domingo.  Ambassador Ourisman has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Blair House, the President’s guest house for foreign Heads of State and is Emeritus Trustee of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.

Ambassador Ourisman received a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Texas in Austin in 1970.
